About Georgia-May
I am a psychologist and play therapist working with adults, teens, children and parents in private practice, South Yarra. In recent years I have worked increasingly with patients suffering with gut issues and other chronic health problems.
I understand that whole body health, particularly gut health, is very much influenced by how you live, think and feel. The events in your life, the way in which you perceive the world around you, your experience of relationships, the state of your mind and the relationship that you have with yourself are all factors that can inform your body’s experience of stress and your physical health. From this perspective, I feel very privileged to be able to support patients in psychotherapy to move towards improved overall health and wellbeing.
It is very important to me that anyone I work with is closely listened to and understood in what they are going through, and together we create a therapeutic space and relationship that feels supportive, helpful, and allows the patient to ultimately feel they can better manage the issues in their life that burden them.
My practice is informed primarily by person-centered therapy foundations, interpersonal neurobiology, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, attachment theory and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
